Black is not technically a color, like white and grey, it is a neutral, but for simplicity it is referred to as a color!
The color black is dramatic, it provides the greatest contrast when coordinated with white.
It is used frequently in interior design to hide or camouflage things that you don't want to highlight as it does not reflect light from it.
Black lacquer is very popular in Japanese design, combined with red and white, you get a very striking Asian themed look.
