Love it or loathe it! Purple is worth a second look.
Purple or violet is currently not commonly used in interior design, it is a color which suggests royalty and spirituality, so perhaps it can be a bit of an intimidating color to use around the house!
However it does sneak in when we are not looking in various disguises!
By simply adding white we create a tint of purple and these colors we know well as mauves, lilacs and lavenders. These softer more restful versions of purple are used frequently in our home decorating, especially in bedrooms and bathrooms as they promote day dreaming and inner calmness. There you go, purple without thinking about it!
Sometimes it can be hard to decide on a color for a small room. We have an example here of a small baby’s nursery that we have changed the walls colors in varying options so that you can visualize the changes it makes on the room. This is a time when you can go a little bit outrageous and your children can’t tell you yet that they don’t like it!
It’s good training for your designer eye!
